Bits & Bobs No. 9
Scenes from Monday’s Inauguration over on Jezebel.
Daring to go dark on the lipstick front, over on Cup of Jo.
As I’ve shared before, I have a bit of a garland obsession. Chock it up to my Waldorf childhood or just to the fact that I love flowers. Design*Sponge shared a gorgeous wintry floral head wreath from The Ladies of Forêt that I’m aching to replicate.
These gorgeous images from photographer Hannah Davis‘ journey blog, Drift, blew me away (via Miss Moss).
More radness from Miss Moss: 2013 calendars. I have yet to invest in a new one (last year I went for a Nikki McClure, and I might just do it again because her work is so darn cool), but these two from spreadthelove and prismaticprintshop, respectively, are right up my alley.

Who runs the world? Girls. GIRLS! Say what you will about the new HBO show GIRLS (and for the record I agree, though you should listen to Lena Dunham on Fresh Air), it makes me LOL a lot. And Sunday’s season finale was no exception.
You know whose work I love? This woman’s. I’ve posted her before and I’ll post her again. Ulrika Kestere = genius. And her hair is amazing.

The new Terrain store in Westport, CT looks b-e-a-utiful! My college graduation dinner last year was spent at the Terrain at Styer’s Garden Café in Glenn Mills, PA. It was one of the most beautiful dining experiences I’ve ever had. Which reminds me, I would love to go back before I leave the East Coast. Kelly, you down? (via Andrew+Carissa)
Alice Ferrow‘s illustrations are dynamite. See more of them over on her Tumblr. (via Brown Paper Bag)

Maurice Sendak, beloved author of Where the Wild Things Are, passed away last week. If you live near my neck of the woods, make sure to stop by the Rosenbach Museum & Library to see the Sendak collection housed there. Also, if you haven’t yet watched it, check out Stephen Colbert’s interview with Sendak from back in January. Here are parts one and two (via Colossal). Simply fabulous.
These kick-a$$ National Park stamps by Valerie Jar (check out her blog Carnival for awesome sauce design inspiration!) for the new National Parks iPhone app by National Geographic (app design credits go to Rally Interactive) (via Design Work Life). Long long ago I had “Jr. Ranger” pins from six of the parks listed below. I want to collect them all!
Femke Agema‘s SS12 collection. Crazy cakes or awesome sauce? Maybe a bit of both! (via We Are Selecters)
I love these two images from Natalie Off Duty. Definitely how I feel right now: sleepy and in need of a good stretch.
Jonathan Ogden‘s album art is so dang up my alley. Recently, I’ve been really interested in covers, no doubt because of my own album design shizz (i.e. my monthly mixes). (via Breanna Rose)
Ben Giles, you are a collage king! Definitely definitely check out more of his work! Flower power! (via Justina Blakeney)

Teeny tiny food has never looked so good! “Tel Aviv-based artist Shay Aaron constructs incredible miniaturized food sculptures at 1:12 scale.” Check out more photos on Flickr and view Shay’s extensive mini food jewelry collection on Etsy. These fried egg studs are right up my alley.
The kids from the Very French Gangsters eyewear ad campaign are just too cute. I’d like her Very Pan Pan frames in an adult size, please.

The Mes Dames spring 2012 lookbook is gorgeous and not just because of the clothes! I love the vintage quality of the shots and the beautiful leafy garden in which the models are set.

As you may know, I’m a huge house porn fan and this kitchen/dining room is making me go bananas! First off, that table with benches is my dream table with benches! Second, what a lovely idea to have a huge leafy branch situated on your mantel. I think my Mom would like this. See more of this house over at Keke and learn how to make what looks like a scrumdidliumptious meaty paella (that serves 20+!!)!
