DR. BRONNER’S MAGIC SOAPBOX
On Sunday, Eric and I watched the documentary Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soapbox (on Netflix Instant, hurrah!) and boy was it crazy! I’ve been using Dr. Bronner’s since childhood, but it wasn’t until a couple years ago that I actually took a few minutes in the shower to read the label. Of course, those few minutes turned into ten (yes, I take long showers…yes, I’m a sham of an environmentalist) and when I finished I left the bathroom confused, amused, and tingly from the wonderful peppermint.
Well, that’s how I felt after watching this documentary, though this time the tinglies were from the beauty of the people featured. Dr. Bronner was a wee bit crazy, but his children and grandchildren seem to be really wonderful and genuine souls. They care about their employees, they care about their product, and they care about spaceship Earth. And that is very cool indeed.
In case you’re curious, my favorite DB scents are peppermint (because of the tinglies, obvs) and lavender. I guess I’m a fan of the mint family! When I run out of my ridiculously huge bottle (which has lasted me all through college and will probably take me well into next year) of peppermint I intend to try out the citrus. Just so you know. If you don’t have a bottle of DB but would like to take a peak at the label, I’ve included the image below. To enlarge, click twice.

I went and watched it just now. Thank you. The son really moved the message as he lived the peace with the company, with his sharing, with being with others and treating the employees as being one.
I’m glad you liked it!
I think it’s amazing you just saw this as I just watched it kind of randomly out of my queue just a few days ago. I was really struck by it too. Like Kir says, the son really “moved the message.” Despite being abandoned by his father, his dad’s message of All One stuck with him. Must say I think DB was just a bit more than a wee bit crazy! I’d never want my employer waking me up at 3 am only to say “never mind!” Loved the post. Thanks!
The son seems to have such a huge heart! I’m glad we’re all watching this. Dr. Bronner’s soap solidarity!
As Manon always used to say, “Right on.” (I can just hear her say that in my mind.)
